About us
SYBL is a non-profit, community-based baseball program serving Shaker Heights, Ohio residents as the sole provider of recreational youth baseball for boys and girls in grades 1 through 11.
Our volunteer board provides inclusive and affordable opportunities to learn and play baseball, operating in tandem with the goals, philosophy, and values of our school district and city recreation department.
Our mission is to use youth athletics as an outlet for children to learn teamwork, sportsmanship, and wellness, all while having a positive life experience to remember for years to come.
Our levels of development include:
- Rookie League – T-Ball, Ages 5-6
- A Ball League – Coach Pitch, Ages 7-8
- AA Ball League – 3rd & 4th Grade
- AAA Ball League – 5th, 6th & 7th Grade
- Major Leagues – 8th through 11th Grade
In addition to our recreational baseball program, we also partner with DNA Academy Baseball to provide a comprehensive Travel Baseball and training experience for players with higher aspirations. The travel programs start at 12U.
Similar to our board, SYBL coaches are volunteer. Coaching your child is a great way to foster the parent-child connection and offer memories to last a lifetime. All volunteer coaches are provided with baseball specific training to learn how to run efficient practices and facilitate game management. Our seasons consist of online registration, proper uniforms and team names, preseason practice, in-season games and, in AA Ball through Major Leagues, we have an in-season All-Star Tournament and a postseason Playoff that includes every team.
